Appearance[]
The Preachan's appearance varies by their level and who they work under. Preachan working under the King have wider sleeves, while Preachan working directly under the Maighstir have tighter, but still wide, sleeves.
Their masks and the color of their guise differ based on level. Preachan who have been working as Preachan for longer, or those who are more skilled, have a higher level. Those in and level in service of the King are generally more skilled and have been Preachan for longer versus their counterparts working for the Maighstir.
Their ranks are as follows:
- Rank 1 (highest level): horizontal and vertical lines on mask, blue colored guise.
- Rank 2: vertical line on mask, purple colored guise.
- Rank 3: horizontal line on mask, green colored guise.
- Rank 4 (lowest level): no lines on mask, red colored guise.
Preachan are outfitted for stealth work, but are also skilled in direct combat.
History[]
A group of agents who work for the Maighstir Cù, in the interest of the High King Marek Balliol. They act as one entity and do not speak about their training procedures. However, there are rumors that the highest leveled Preachan are magically enhanced in some way. The Preachan slowly replaced all guards in the castle after the Maighstir arrived.
Their lives outside of their work are hidden. The Maighstir has hidden barracks for the Preachan to live in. What goes on there is unknown. Chaar was seen training with a group of Preachan in Episode 9, so it is presumed somewhere in their barracks, training is conducted. Chaar also stated she has known people who went into the program.
Personality[]
Working as a Preachan requires the person to give up who they were before and assimilate into the Preachan. It is seen as a great honor to be chosen. As a Preachan, they become aloof and menacing, and are thought to be sort of a hivemind, though that has not been confirmed. The Maighstir does not dissuade that rumor though, as it makes the Preachan seem all that more of an unknown.
Trivia[]
- Preachan is an unspecific term for a range of predatory birds (esp. crows, ravens, kites, vultures etc.) in Scots Gaelic.
- Ordinary people never seem to make it past Rank 2, so it's a mystery as to who, or what, Rank 1 is.
- Unmasked they have both been seen as ordinary people, and some sort of magically altered being.
